CDC Events in June

Grow Detroit’s Young Talent Orientation

One group we had in our building in June was our summer youth employees for their work orientation. We have 230 teens working with us this summer (not all pictured here). They got to meet their site supervisors and learn what they will be doing for 6 weeks of the summer. Pictured below these nervous teens are (from left to right) Tiffany, Carlos, Christa, and then our Kayla, Britney, and Stephanie. The summer has begun and it is live.

Pathways of Promise Graduation

We love it when parents and grandparents show up for their kids! And so it started with the pre school graduation of 4 wonderful students: Lance, Logan,Serenity and Harmony. We are proud of them too, AND, they are ready for kindergarten too.

Sports Banquet for CDC Saints

CDC presented their first sports banquet for all the children and teens who particpated in basketball, cheerleading, and flag football. All athletes were honored with medals and words of encouragement from their coaches. We got to hear some life changing experiences and enjoy some great food.

Summer staff orientation

These mighty men and women of God are gearing up for the day camp and employment program that lays before them. What an awesome group. So proud. This was another group in our building in June. They have now completed one week of day camp with 5 to go! Please pray for them.

Mimi Speaks at a press conference

On June 28th, the City held a press conference to announce the start of their Downpayment Assistance Program. The mayor spoke, and a representative from the White House came as well as 5 different City Council members. And after they all spoke, our own Mimi Trent got up to the podium to say a few words about the value of Home Buyer Education courses. She knocked it out of the park.
