In addition to the range of programs we offer, CDC works hard to meet a variety of direct physical needs for the families in central Detroit. To meet these needs, we accept “like-new” furniture and appliance donations and other items for distribution according to need. It is our desire to honor our neighbors by making available to them quality goods, as with our programs we strive to deliver the best.
Donations in the past have enabled CDC to sponsor a Christmas store for the community, a back-to-school give-away, Thanksgiving love boxes, and an adult computer class.

Thanksgiving Boxes
This Thanksgiving, Central Detroit Christian invites you to spread warmth and hope by donating nonperishable food items for families in need by November 21st. Your contributions of canned goods, stuffing, pasta, and other essentials will bring comfort to those who need it most.
Together, we can make a difference and ensure that everyone in our community enjoys a warm meal this holiday season.

Christmas Store
Central Detroit Christian Community Development (CDC) is hosting our Pride for Parents Christmas Store to give parents an affordable way to shop for their children’s holiday needs and wishes. This special store empowers parents to provide for their families with pride during the holiday season.
What do we need?
- TOYS TOYS TOYS (we ran out last year)
- Underwear, socks (we ran out last year)
- Gloves/mittens, scarves, hats (we almost ran out)
- Hygiene kits (deodorant, wash cloth, toothpaste, toothbrush, soap)
- You can also select from our Amazon Wish List
We’re accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys, clothing, and gifts until December 6th. Your support helps create a joyful, dignified shopping experience for families in Central Detroit. Join us in spreading holiday cheer and making a difference this Christmas.

Back to School Drive
A fresh start to the school year means more than just new supplies—it’s about giving our kids the confidence, tools, and excitement to learn and grow. By donating backpacks and essential school supplies, you’re helping students in our community thrive, ready to tackle the school year with pride and preparation.
We invite you to use the checklist below as a guide for needed items. Donations are welcome year-round and will be distributed at our Back to School Rally in August, ensuring that each child starts the year with everything they need to succeed.
Here’s what goes into a fully stocked backpack:
- Six #2 pencils
- Six medium ballpoint pens
- One wide-ruled, single-subject notebook
- One package of filler paper
- One manual pencil sharpener
- One 24-count box of crayons
- A 12” ruler
- Two small glue sticks
- One pair of blunt-tip scissors
- One 1.5” three-ring binder
- One pencil pouch
- Two 2-pocket folders
- A two-gallon resealable plastic bag
Each donation brings a smile, a bit of relief for families, and sets a student up for success. Thank you for helping us equip our young learners for a bright future!
