Foreclosure Prevention

With the rise of foreclosures within our area CDC has developed an easy to use web-based process for assisting homeowners in need.

Step 1:

Please click here for our intake system through MSHDA’s Help for the Hardest Hit. We will contact you via phone and email within 48 hours of receiving your information.

Step 2:

A live educational Foreclosure Prevention webinar is held by a certified counselor once a week in the evening. Homeowners receive a basic understanding of workout options available and the foreclosure timeline specific for Michigan. We also review statistical data and discuss how we got in this housing crisis.

Step 3:

Individual appointments with a certified counselor are held by appointments only and are designed to meet the unique needs of the homeowner. These can be completed by phone, over the web or in person. The choice is yours.

Required documents prior to this appointment are:

• Last 2 years of federal tax returns
• Last 2 months bank statements
• Last month of income
• One recent utility bill
• Most recent mortgage statement

**If you have already received a foreclosure notice from an attorney please contact our office IMMEDIATELY and we can assist you with this as there are only an allowed 14 days from the date of the letter to respond.
