The weekly club meeting, which is the cornerstone of the youth programming, begins with informal games and relaxed fun, then moves into an open discussion of a topic to young people. Staff members work to provide an informal environment, yet fulfill a serious purpose. The result is an active interchange of ideas with an atmosphere of positive peer support, in which staff members present biblical perspectives and encourage teens to adhere to Christian lifestyle principals. Involvement in the program fosters the development of lasting friendships. Students who show a keen interest in leading and serving others become a part of our "leadership in training" program.
The teen years are a time of making education-related decisions that will carry lifelong consequences. CDC provides college and career preparation seminars along with individual counsel for juniors and seniors, so that they are exposed to a variety of college choices and resources. We assist students with the financial aid process and with college entrance requirements. In addition, students have the option to participate in a college tour and visit college fairs with staff members.
